Anything Goes at 4 Crafty Chicks!

Good morning Friends! Today starts are new challenge at  4 Crafty Chicks.  This is our Anything Goes challenge.

For this weeks card, I decided to try something a little bit out of my comfort zone.  I love the looks of black and white images but never felt comfortable enough to try to color them myself.  I used this adorable image from The Paper Shelter and colored her using my Spectrum Noir markers.  I had to have a little color so I make her eyes and lips in color.  I actually love the way this one turned out. (except for the hair - but practice makes perfect right?)  Anyway, the sentiment is from the Scribble & Scrap Shop, the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts and the papers and ribbon are from my stash.

No lines allowed! at Crafting When We Can

Good morning Friends! Today starts are new challenge at  Crafting When We Can.  The challenge for this week is to use the "No Line" Technique.  Well, I followed all the directions but I am not sure I got this one right!  No matter how light I tried to print my image I can still see lines! Anyway - I really thought this little rabbit was so adorable and I want to thank our sponsor this week -
Inky Impressions - for allowing me to use him!

I colored him with my Spectrum Noir markers and then sponged the sky background.  Trimmed and matted him then added to an embossed layer of card stock. A bow and finished!  Pretty CAS but loved the image so much I didn't think it really needed more.

Here is a close up of this beautiful image:

So be sure to pop over to Crafting When We Can and give our NO LINES challenge a go!  I can't wait to see what you create! While you are there be sure to check out all the great inspiration from the rest of the Design Team.  They sure do have some beautiful projects to show you!

Today I have a Crafty Sentiments Inspiration for you.  This adorable little guy is called My Best Friend.  I think he is just adorable.  I have colored him with my Spectrum Noir markers and cut him out using a Spellbinders Die.  I added the next size die behind him using Kraft paper. Some pattern paper from my scrap bin, ribbon and some pearls finish him off.  The sentiment is an old acrylic stamp I have had forever but never used.

Off To The Ball Card and Box Tutorial

Good morning Friends! Do you ever struggle with your envelopes being too small for your cards when you get all those beautiful embellishments on them?  Well, today I have a tutorial for you on a box you can make to hold your card.  This is great if you are giving the card as your gift (they are pretty special gifts to give!) I find myself giving a card with just a little cash or gift card more than ever now.
* Warning - this post is VERY picture heavy!

The first thing I do is determine the size I need my box to be.  Most of my cards are 5.75 x 5.75 so I make a 6in. box.  I want my sides to be 1 in tall so I cut a piece of heavy card stock at 8x8 and score at 1 inch on all 4 sides:

Here is a close up of the score lines:

Next, I cut a slit from the end to the score line on each side.  I like to angle the corners to make it look a little neater.

Here is what it should look like:

Next I just add my adhesive and then adhere to the inside of the uncut side.

To make the top I cut my card stock at 7 1/8 inches and scored around at 1/2 inch on each side.  I decorated the top to match the card and there you have it.  A simple box that looks like you spent loads of time!

The completed box.
Here is a close up of the image on the box:

For my card and box I used this adorable stamp called
Off To The Ball by Crafty SentimentsDesigns.  I colored her with my Spectrum Noir pens and cut her our using a Spellbinders die. I also used a couple of other dies to complete this card along with some ribbon and flowers.

Perfect for a little girls birthday!
