A Special Flower

Good morning Friends! Well, I am officially the parent of a college graduate!  Lacie now has her BA in Spanish and is ready to embark on the next phase of her life.  I still can't believe she is finished!  Now, it will be off to the academy for 6 weeks training before moving to her new job. I am so proud of her but sad that she will be moving away and starting her new life.  Oh the joys of being a parent!

Today starts are new challenge at  Crafting From The Heart. As always, the theme is Anything Goes.  We are sponsored this week by A Day For Daisies and Dilly Beans.  They are offering some great prizes so be sure to play along!

For my card I have used this adorable image from A Day For Daisies called A Special Flower. I have colored her with my Spectrum Noir pens.  Keeping the design pretty simple I have added some ribbon, flowers and a butterfly.  I loved the butterfly background paper and thought it went along with the image.

We have a new challenge up at 4 Crafty Chicks this week and our wonderful hostess is Tamie.  Tamie has decided that we need to create a card all about the Desert!  My favorite part of any celebration! I found the perfect image at The Paper Shelter and thought this would look yummy! The papers came from Basic Grey and the ribbon and gems are from my stash.

I colored the image using my Spectrum Noir pens and cut out using an old circle cutter from Creative Memories.

Sweet Baby Girl

Welcome back Friends! I am so glad you are here!
Well, Isaac is home for the summer along with all of the stuff a college kid needs and Lacie will graduate on Sunday!  Life is changing fast around here!

Today starts a new challenge at Scribble & Scrap Challenge Blog.
Not too long ago a friends of mine asked me to create a card for her to give at a baby shower.  I decided to use this wonderful paper pack from the Scribble & Scrap Shop called  In the Pink Set 1.  I just loved these hearts! Perfect for a baby girl...I also used the Baby sentiment set from the shop.  My image came from Wee Stamps and I colored her with Spectrum Noir markers and cut her out using a Spellbinders die.  The heart die is from Memory Box and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts.  Some ribbon and pearls finished off the outside of the card.

So be sure to hop over to Scribble & Scrap and enter your card today for a chance to win a fabulous prize!

The sentiments was hand written and cut using a Spellbinders die.  This is the first box card I have ever made and I am quite happy with it!  I will definitely make more of these little gems!

Off To The Ball Card and Box Tutorial

Good morning Friends! Do you ever struggle with your envelopes being too small for your cards when you get all those beautiful embellishments on them?  Well, today I have a tutorial for you on a box you can make to hold your card.  This is great if you are giving the card as your gift (they are pretty special gifts to give!) I find myself giving a card with just a little cash or gift card more than ever now.
* Warning - this post is VERY picture heavy!

The first thing I do is determine the size I need my box to be.  Most of my cards are 5.75 x 5.75 so I make a 6in. box.  I want my sides to be 1 in tall so I cut a piece of heavy card stock at 8x8 and score at 1 inch on all 4 sides:

Here is a close up of the score lines:

Next, I cut a slit from the end to the score line on each side.  I like to angle the corners to make it look a little neater.

Here is what it should look like:

Next I just add my adhesive and then adhere to the inside of the uncut side.

To make the top I cut my card stock at 7 1/8 inches and scored around at 1/2 inch on each side.  I decorated the top to match the card and there you have it.  A simple box that looks like you spent loads of time!

The completed box.
Here is a close up of the image on the box:

For my card and box I used this adorable stamp called
Off To The Ball by Crafty SentimentsDesigns.  I colored her with my Spectrum Noir pens and cut her our using a Spellbinders die. I also used a couple of other dies to complete this card along with some ribbon and flowers.

Perfect for a little girls birthday!

Use Flowers at 4 Crafty Chicks!

Good morning everyone!  I hope you are enjoying this beautiful weather! It is time once again for a new challenge at 4 Crafty Chicks.  I am hosting this week and what a more fitting challenge for me to issue than to Use Flowers.  If you have been to my blog before you know that I love flowers and use them on almost every card! So, without further ado - Here is my card for this weeks challenge:

A few weeks ago I went to a CK convention in St. Louis with some friends.  We had a great weekend and did A LOT of shopping!  I have used a few of the new things I purchased to make this card. This adorable image is from Crafters' Companion and is called Angelica.  I just love her little dress and wings!  I colored her with Spectrum Noir Pens and cut her out using one of my new Spellbinders Dies. Bling and ribbon are from my stash and the flowers are from Wild Orchid Crafts. The sentiments came with the image.  I added lots of glitter and Glossy Accents to her wings, underskirt and headband.

Here is a close up of this cutie:

I still need to practice blending my new pens, but overall I just love this little angel!

So, why don't you get crafty and join us at 4 Crafty Chicks this week for our "Use Flowers" challenge.  We would love to have you join us!  While you are out and about, be sure to stop by the rest of the Chicks' blogs and see some of the fabulous work they do.

Let's Go Fishing!

Good Morning Friends and welcome back!  Only 4 days until Isaac is home for the summer!  And only 14 Days until Lacie's Graduation!  We are officially on the countdown!  The invitations to her party have been completed and mailed out, the food has been decided on (now I just have to cook up a storm until the party!)  Her dress has been purchased (along with new shoes and jewelry!)  I think I am almost ready!  (but, can we just turn back the clock about 18 years because really I'M NOT READY for my baby to be all grown up!) The only positive is that she has a job to go to that is actually in her field of study.  So many kids graduate college and then end up working in a completely different field because they can't find a job and of course they have all those loans to pay. Unfortunately, that will also mean that she has to move away, which makes me very sad!

Anyway, on to today's project.  We are starting a new challenge at Crafting From The Heat this week.  The theme is always Anything Goes!  This week we are sponsored by the Paper Nest Dolls (a prize of $25 voucher!) and Bugaboo (a prize of 7 digis of your choice!) Those are some awsome prizes so come play along!!!

For my card, I have used an image from Bugaboo called Gus Fishing.  I just love Gus! I colored him with Spectrum Noir pens and matted him on some Kraft card stock.  I used a distressed paper for my background and added some burlap ribbon and black dots to finish him off.

So, what are you waiting for??? Get over to  Crafting From The Heart and show us something new!  Remember, the theme is Anything Goes! I can't wait to see what you create!  Oh, and while you are there, be sure to check out all the wonderful projects from our very talented design team.  They work so hard to create beautiful projects to inspire you!

Today begins a new challenge at Charisma Cardz Challenges.  This week we are sponsored by Bugaboo Stamps and the Digi Stamp Boutique.  They are offering some amazing prizes so won't you play along?

Bugaboo Stamps were kind enough to give me this adorable Deacon with Heart to play along with.  I colored him with my Spectrum Noir pens. I kept the design pretty simple with just some pattern paper, flowers and ribbon.  The sentiments was made on my computer using Microsoft Word.  I think I am actually getting better with these new pens, what do you think?

Good morning Friends! I can't believe it is May already!  This year is just flying by!  Both kids are almost finished with class for the year...Isaac will be home for the summer in just about a week and Lacie will graduate from college on the 18th!  Wow! I guess I better get busy with those party plans!!!

Today starts are new challenge at 4 Crafty Chicks!  Leanne is our wonderful hostess this week and she has issued the challenge to do Paper Piecing.  Let me tell you, It took me a few tries to get this one right!  But, in the end, I love the result!  For my card I used an image from Sassy Studio's called Bubble Gum Sassy. I colored her with my Spectrum Noir pens and used some pattern paper to cut her top and jeans. I kept the design pretty simple as I printed the image so large (to make cutting easier!) But I love the green and blue color combo! I added a few pink gems that reminded me of a big bubble...
